Letter to government - Reading culture
Respected Sir,
As we make our steady progress towards building a nation with wide spectrum of knowledge and culture available across the country, we should also give a thought to encourage book reading culture in across different generations. Especially students and youth which has started earning money are the pillars of our nation building agenda. It is of prime important fact that good books (qualitatively as well quantitatively) influence the thought process of the youth and we should encourage the reading culture. Though everyone in our educated society makes to purchase and read books from time to time, but government initiatives with little encouragment will definitely help in to implement this culture to the grass root levels.
Can central government (or any public body) encourage such culture by following means?

Can central government (or any public body) encourage such culture by following means?
- Make few commendable books in various topics (like biographies of national heroes) available at less price. May be a tax waiver on those publications.
- Initiate development of public libraries with initial funding and charge readers thereafter. I know there are few. But we need to leverage support from corporates and multifold the numbers.
- Bring the books purchase expenses into the tax-free income bracket. Allow book purchase investment as a tax saving investment.
- Encourage corporate houses to establish printing facilities to offer cost effective books. Provide tax (or other benefits) to those in return.
- Encourage bloggers and social media writers to make quality content which can be converted literature, and can be published via options in pt.4.
- One book (on consensus) per year in a syllabus from 8th to 10th standard. It can be a part of value education.
- Regional level contests for book appreciation for students.
- Nationwide campaign to publicize these government initiatives.
